After some weeks of backpackerish travel our feet began to ache, our hair lacked life, we were never sure what day it was and too be honest, our hygiene had taken a backseat.
Hotel Zoo couldn’t have come quick enough. Perfectly positioned on Kurfürstendamm street surrounded by not only bustling restaurants, dessert venues and the train station but Urban Outfitters, Tommy Hilfiger and Dior. Heaven? Not sure?
The entrance was so grand it felt like waking up on Christmas morning. We were greeted by a sweet soul who gave us tips and tricks for Berlin. We were then taken up to our room via elevator which was full of paparazzi taking our picture – coolest quirk ever! The concierge showed us to our room but to be honest, neither of us can remember what he said as we were far too taken back by the art, beauty and prestige our room had to offer. Not to mention the bed was big enough to fit a family of at least 18.
Just when we thought Hotel Zoo had reached its extent of coolness, the bathroom had speakers synced to our phone– which although delayed the 'getting ready' process, it did however have us 'perfect' our Jay Z and Bey routine. Once our bathroom concert was over we made our way up to the roof top bar. UMMMMMM… AMAZING!! Stunning to every little detail this arty, luxury hotel has taken pride in the ability to woo its guests. The views were incredible, the cocktail menu was deliciously extensive and there seemed to be an endless supply of popcorn. OK, Hotel Zoo we get it you’re cool.
After the best sleep of our lives we woke to the smell of warm hot chocolate and it was time to destroy the breakfast buffet. If the jaw dropping details we had already experienced was anything to go by, we knew we were in for a breakfast bonanza. And it did not disappoint. Everything you have ever wished for plus a sculpture of honey.
Hotel Zoo a perfect clash of history and modern age- as if two worlds collided. Its design honours the historic 1920’s heritage with an impeccable attention to detail. It is arty, it is unique, luxurious and it is definitely where you should stay in Berlin.
